Stay Right Pass Left™

Take the "Stay Right Survey"

Stay Right Pass Left™ is dedicated to the safe driving practice of always staying right and passing on the left. Always drive only in the right hand lane. Respect faster cars that want to pass by not blocking their path. Please understand and respect the fact that the left hand lane is for passing only!

from: Heather Lee Horwath to: info@stayrightclub.com subject: Stay right Survey years driving: 7 cars: Jeep Cherokee 2005 city: NY-NJ state: NJ I completely agree. Commuters from PA (that I have seen) traveling to East NJ frequently ride the left lane due to the long duration they spend on one highway. They think they're being safe but it only causes more traffic as some also try to "police" speeders. If they wanted to become a traffic patrolman they should've joined a police academy. This is infuriating as a commuter because it causes people to pass on the right and also disrupts a smooth flow of traffic. I just don't understand how people can't check their mirrors, use turn signals and stay right. I think that if you cannot manage that, then you should not have a license. A driver's license is a priviledge, not a citizen's right. I also feel that people who linger in the left lane should be targeted by state troopers and given a hefty fine. There's enough traffic in NJ already, ignorant and selfish people are making it worse. If you don't like being tailgated, then move out of the way. Ignorant drivers need to learn to share the road and not be selfsish because they are afraid/nervous to drive on the highway.
from: John Tyrrell to: "info@stayrightclub.com" subject: Stay Right Survey years driving: 16 cars: 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2000 Jeep Cherokee, 1988 Camaro IROC-Z, 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 city: Livonia state: MI Traffic would move so much more efficiently if people obeyed the simple law of "drive right, pass left". People camping out in the left lane for absolutely no reason is my #1 annoyance when i drive. I wish law enforcement would hand out more impeding traffic tickets to these people and less to those speeding to try to get around them. I love watching someone getting on the expressway @ 45mph, and they immediately go 3 lanes over to the far left lane with absolutely no traffic in front of them...and of course, with no turn signal being used. Sometimes, i think i should have been a police officer so i could make my point more clearly.
What do you think? Take the Stay Right Survey.

The law in most areas states that you must "stay right and pass on the left". To stay right in the far right hand lane and to pass in the left hand lane is safe driving practice. It is not only courteous, it's also the law!

Please observe safe driving habits:
  • Always stay in the right hand "driving lane".
  • Never change lanes without checking your rearview mirrors.
  • Use your turn signals before changing lanes.
  • Never pull into the passing lane when a faster car is approaching.
  • Always overtake and pass slower vehicles quickly.
  • Never match the speed of the car you are passing.
  • Always return to the right hand lane after passing.
We are committed to improving good driving habits on North American roads and highways. Please join us in our effort to make driving a safer, more pleasant experience for everyone. by helping to get the message out to the masses.
